Armor of God

If you were going to battle, you’d want the best gear to protect you. A long time ago, soldiers wore helmets, shields, and swords. But the Bible says our biggest fight isn’t against people we can see — it’s against things we can’t see. Ephesians 6:12 tells us that our battle is not against flesh and blood, meaning it’s not against what we can see, but against evil powers and the devil’s tricks. It’s kind of like the wind: you can’t see it, but you know it’s real because you see what it does. That’s why God gives us special armor for our hearts and minds — His armor!

Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

Significance

Every follower of Jesus has a real enemy, Satan, who tries to pull us away from God. But God doesn’t leave us unprotected. He gives us His armor so we can be strong and stand against the enemy. This armor has six parts:

 Helmet of Salvation (to guard your thoughts)
 Breastplate of Righteousness (to protect your heart from sin)
 Shield of Faith (to block the enemy’s lies)
 Shoes of Peace (to help you share the good news of Jesus)
 Belt of Truth (Jesus is the truth- John 14:6. The belt holds everything else in place.)
 Sword of the Spirit (God’s Word, the Bible, to fight back)

With this armor, God makes us strong enough to win!

Application

Ask a parent or trusted adult to read Ephesians 6:10–20 with you. When they mention each
piece of God’s armor, pretend to “put it on.” For example:

 Put on your “helmet” by tapping your head.
 Strap on your “shield” by holding up your arm.
 Swing your “sword” by moving your hand like you’re holding one.

Think about how each piece would protect you and remind you that God is always with you.

GUIDED PRAYER

God, thank You for giving me Your armor. Help me remember to put it on every day. Teach me to stand strong with Your truth, faith, and Word, so I can follow You bravely and shine Your light in the world.
