He Provides

Ella was nervous about her first day of dance class. “What if I mess up? What if no one talks to me?” she asked. On the drive, she noticed birds flying overhead. Her mom smiled and said, “Jesus once told us to look at the birds. They don’t worry about what they’ll eat or wear, because God provides everything they need. And if He cares for them, how much more will He care for you today?”

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” — Matthew 6:25–26

Significance

When Jesus spoke these words, He reminded people not to be anxious or nervous about food or clothing—because God provides. And the same is true for us today. Whether the worry is about not having enough, trying something new or doing something hard, Jesus’ promise is the same: the Lord knows our needs and He provides.

Application

What is something you have been worried about? Think about what God has met your needs today. Draw a picture of a bird and write one worry you want to give to God.

GUIDED PRAYER

Dear Lord, When I feel afraid or worried, help me to remember to bring all my fears and anxieties to You. Remind me that You care about every detail of my life, from the little things to the big things. Thank You for providing for me just like You provide for the birds. Give me peace when I’m anxious, courage when I feel nervous, and joy in knowing I am valuable to You. I trust You to take care of me today and every day.
